#151: A Plea For The King - Slechtvalk

Slechtvalk

Genre: Symphonic Black Metal

My king, hear my plea as I kneel before thee.
In the last hour of my watch I have fallen asleep.
When Darkness came I did not protect them.
When they were struck with panic I did not admonish them.
And when death came I was too late to save them.
Do not hold me accountable for their deaths.
Do not forsake me in my darkest hour.
For darkness comes for me, rebellion strides with me.
And I feel death following me.

'Open your eyes and then you will see,
that their deaths were merely an illusion.
You must know of what I speak,
(Death is merely an illusion)
and the wrongs you have done already have been forgiven
although it saddens me to see you like this.'
(I already have been forgiven)

Although my King has shown me mercy how come I can't forgive myself?
For the crime I have committed I should have been punished by death.

#150: Stay Right Here - The Ascendicate

The Ascendicate

Genre: Metal

Note: another attempt at transcribing another one of The Ascendicate's songs. I'm not completely convinced I'm right, primarily with the second verse. Help would be appreciated.

From here, from outside, you're surrounded by light
I feel inside my heart beating faster and I cannot fight
And I will stay right here wait for the light
I will wait for you all night
My heart is pounding way too hard to fight
I will wait for you all night

Pretend from your eyes they remind me the lie
I kill my own lies just one faithful disaster as that's the price
And I will stay right here wait for the light
I will wait for you all night
My heart is pounding way too hard to fight
I will wait for you all night

Wait right here
Wait right here for, wait right here
I wait; you're the only one for me
Stay right here 'till you say
Where I'm gonna be
Stay right here 'till you say
I will stay right here wait for the light
I will wait for you all night
My heart is pounding way too hard to fight
I will wait for you all night

Twitter

For those un-aware who may be subscribed to the RSS feed, The Periodical Song now has a Twitter. For the most part, this is likely to be a mirror of the main blog, so I'll be tweeting the artist and song names of the twice-weekly song posts; however, I will also tweet about any new albums I learn of, new artists I discover, and potentially new tours. Feel free to follow The Periodical Song at http://twitter.com/periodicalsong

#149: Welcome to Forever - Impending Doom

Impending Doom

Genre: Death Metal

Note: Impending Doom's new album The Serpent Servant, is excellent. And sorry for the missed update, I have been sick as of late, and was in bed all Thursday.

Welcome to forever, on this wrinkled piece of paper.
Welcome to forever.
I write a letter to you, to this generation and the generations to come.
Vanity of vanities, everything under the sun, everything under the sun, everything will be forgotten.
All that you remember, wrapped around this world.
Grasping for the wind, where both the wise and the fools both achieve emptiness in the end.
Emptiness in the end.
Where does the time go?
Who are we when we are all alone?
When we're all alone.
Welcome to forever, everything will be forgotten all that you remember wrapped up in this world, welcome to forever, everything will be forgotten, all that you remember.
Wrapped up in this world, grasping for the wind where both the wise and the fools both achieve emptiness in the end.
Welcome to forever, on this wrinkled piece of paper.
Welcome to forever.
I write a letter to you, look back and retrace your steps.
Don't look at the clouds and ignore the one who's coming through them.

#148 - The Author - The Overseer

The Author

Genre: Metal

Feed me to the lions, lead me to the wolves
Throw me to the fires, God let your will be done
Feed me to the lions, lead me to the wolves
Let your will be done
Let your fire reign ON ME!

Whatever it takes to please you
Oh author of my faith
Take this life and make it worthy of a song
Lord make me one with thee
How long have I wasted my life
pleasuring my own wants and needs

You've given me a second chance
Great is your faithfulness
My imperfections don't mean a thing,
they don't mean a thing

Faith without works is dead

#147: Separation - The Overseer

Separation

Genre: Metal

Note: Chances are, you haven't heard of this band. They're pretty new, and I believe the only thing they've released is one demo containing this song and The Author. That can be found on iTunes. They show a lot of promise, and I'm looking forward to seeing (and hearing) more of them.

We are the age of now
We stand tall watching the sky turn to ruin
We're moving faster than ever
But never quite fast enough
Oh faithless and twisted generation
Tomorrow is promised to no man

GO!
Cut us in half
Rip us apart
Seperate the sin from the truth
Tear out our hearts

Cut us in half
Rip us apart
Seperate the sin from the truth
Tear out our hearts

Can we ever really see all we want to see
Can we hear all we want, all we want to hear
We are weak and faithless, but
Seasons change and this one's fading away

Time is the thief
It is the thief of life
It's an unwinnable fight
It brings the work of death to life
So just keep your eyes to the sky
The time is near to live or die,
to live or die

Faces of the wicked will not escape darkness
Faces of the wicked

#146: Opposite of Left and Wrong - Norma Jean

Norma Jean

Genre: Mathcore

Dedication is nothing but a word.
What have we become?
We become the things we do.
When does it end?
Argument is the enemy.
You've said one hundred opposites of left and wrong
So tell me what's right, not what's wrong.
I don't care anymore.
I'm drained from the struggle.
Argument is the enemy.
I don't care anymore: I'm giving this up
You can fight your way through this graveyard
There is no rehab for your power addiction and...
I've had all the freedom that I can stand
Tell me what's right
