Heart of the Servant

Mocked and defiled, embedded in your head are thorns.
This is love. Lord, I am eternally grateful.
My heart is all I have to give.
Now religion has destroyed.
This was never how things were meant to be.
We are no longer bound by the law.
In His blood we find freedom. We are saved by grace.
So give me peace through these times of struggle, and hope through these times of despair.
Give me the heart of a servant, so I may worship with all of my life.
Your religion is dead, but Jesus, you give life. This is my purpose: to live for your glory.
Lord, I give you praise.
You died for me, I will live for you.
I would give my life for this.
This is my purpose: to live for your glory.
Lord, I give you praise.
You died for me, I will live for you.
I would give my life for this.
Lord, I give you praise.
You died for me, I will live for you.
I would give my life for this.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
ReplyDeleteJohn 8:32
If the 'Law' (which simply means 'instructions')has been done away with at the stake of the Saviour, then why did YHWH say in Jeremiah 31:33 as well as Hebrews 8:10 that He would write it on His people's hearts? If the Torah (Law) has been done away with, then why are the 'New Testament' believers, including Paul who wrote most of the N.T. letters, still obeying it? And lastly, if the Law has truly been done away with, then why did Yahshua (Jesus) say in Matthew 5 that He did not come to destroy the Torah, but to fulfill (complete) it? If you can answer these questions with Scripture, then please get back to me, I would like to talk with you.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm not Bible-smart, and I can't speak for the person who wrote this song, but my original interpretation of the lyrics was that we have forgotten to live for God, which is the most important thing. Reading it over again now, I'm a little less certain, thinking that it might also be talking about how the religion has brought harm and old rules may be obsolete.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit that I don't always post songs that I agree with or have studied as much as I'd like to, most of the songs here are chosen because of how they make me feel when I hear them or based on my perceived quality of their music. I definitely appreciate all comments, and your interpretation of the lyrics. I'm just not capable of responding as well as I'd like to.
